Amber Mountain National Park is in the Diana Region of northern Madagascar. It is an isolated volcanic massf of basalt, hosting a montane rainforest surrounded by dry semi-desert. The forest is dominated by tree ferns, bird's-nest ferns, and bamboo. The park's name comes from the resin that oozes from trees like the ramy (Canarium madagascariense) and rotra (Eugenia rotra). This was Madagascar's first national park, created in 1958. The park is near Joffreville, 40km from Diego Suarez.
